Rafael van der Vaart has criticised Ajax captain Dusan Tadic, saying the Serbian is “hopelessly out of form.”

Ajax have enjoyed a strong start to the Eredivisie season, being the only team to win each of their opening five matches.

However, Tadic has played little part in that, failing to score a goal and getting just two assists, with new signing Steven Bergwijn being the side’s star man.

Indeed, former Ajax player Van der Vaart hasn’t been impressed with the attacker.

“Tadic is really hopelessly out of form,” he said on Studio Voetbal.

“You can also see it in his assumptions. He used to put his ass in and take it, now he is knocked over by players from Cambuur.”

With Antony leaving, Tadic has moved over to the right-hand side of attack, and Van der Vaart doesn’t think he can play there.

“He can only be on the left, and maybe in the big games still as a striker. Not even on ten,” he added.
