Rafael van der Vaart has criticised the transfer business that Ajax have conducted this summer, arguing that they haven’t made a single good signing.

It’s been a busy transfer window for the Eredivisie champions, with six important players leaving and six players being brought in.

The signings of Steven Bergwijn and Brian Brobbey in particular have been widely seen as good ones, but Van der Vaart doesn’t feel that way, arguing the club now has too many forwards they need to give playing time to.

“I think there hasn’t been a good purchase,” he said on Studio Voetbal.

“You create problems. Of course you have to play Bergwijn, but you also have to play Tadic, Brobbey you have to play, Berghuis has done well so you have to play him.”

Pierre van Hooijndonk agrees with his compatriot, saying that the team should have a clear starting XI instead of rotating as Alfred Schreuder has said he intends to.
