Rafael Santos Borré’s spell at Werder Bremen, and in Germany, has come to an end.
It was confirmed in January that the Colombian forward would be joining Internacional in the summer, but Borré’s move was brought forward after an agreement between Werder, Eintracht Frankfurt and Internacional.
Borré joined Werder on loan from Eintracht last summer, but scored just four goals in 991 minutes for Ole Werner’s side this season.
With his move to Internacional, Borré has signed a contract until 2028. As noted by Kicker, the forward’s situation was monitored by fans on social media, who used the hashtag #FreeBorré.
Borré’s departure leaves Werder short in attack. Justin Njinmah has scored five and created two in the Bundesliga after returning from a loan spell at Borussia Dortmund II.
Marvin Ducksch remains their key player in attack with nine goals and five assists in 23 Bundesliga games this season, while Dawid Kownacki has struggled since his move from Fortuna Düsseldorf with no goals in 267 minutes this season. Nick Woltemade, a returnee from Elversberg, is also yet to score in 555 minutes in the Bundesliga.
