AC Milan are ready to listen to offers for winger Rafael Leao this summer, a report has claimed, with the Serie A side prepared to slash their asking price for the 25-year-old.

Leao joined Milan in 2019 and played an integral role in the 2021/22 Serie A title-winning season, earning himself a new contract in the summer of 2023 which includes a release clause worth a whopping €175m (£144.9m).

Milan have long rebuffed interest in Leao's services from the likes of Chelsea and Barcelona but, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport, that stance could be about to change in the wake of Tuesday's elimination from the Champions League.

It is claimed that Milan believe Leao has not progressed his career beyond the highs of the 2021-2023 period - a view which can be backed by a look at his production in front of goal. This season, he has just nine goals and eight assists in 35 games, compared to 16 and 14 from 48 outings in 2022/23.

While his €175m release clause has been used as a deterrent in the past, Milan are now ready to listen to offers for Leao and could start the bidding at just €80m (£66.2m).

Such a fee could pique the interest of both Chelsea and Barcelona once again, while it is claimed clubs in Saudi Arabia are watching the 25-year-old's situation closely.

Chelsea may have an advantage as Milan are already believed to be keen to extend Joao Felix's stay at the club. His loan deal does not include the option for a permanent transfer but a potential swap deal involving Leao could benefit both clubs.
