Benítez has been out of work since he was sacked by Everton in January 2022, but the former Liverpool and Real Madrid boss is now back in the saddle and ready to coach the 14th club of his managerial career.

He won the LaLiga title as coach of Valencia in both 2001/2002 and 2003/2004 and also has Champions League and UEFA Cup winners’ medals on his CV among other honours.

His managerial record currently stands at 1099 games, 549 of which ended in victory.

Celta have been on the lookout for a new coach since Carlos Carvahal left the club just under a fortnight ago.
