It cannot be excluded that Radja Nainggolan will leave Inter in the upcoming January transfer window according to a report from Italian news outlet CalcioMercato.com.
Negotiations for him to return to Cagliari, where he spent last season on loan, were well underway between the Sardinian club and Inter but the clubs ultimately failed to come to an agreement over the Belgian central midfielder, who wanted to return to the Rossoblu club at all costs.
Nainggolan had actually agreed a three year contract with Cagliari president Tommaso Giulini but Inter president Steven Zhang was reluctant to let Nainggolan go for anything less than €10 million.
Inter wanted Nainggolan to leave on a permanent basis and were not interested in entertaining any creative formulas or granting Cagliari a discount.
The report goes on to state that Inter know they could sell Nainggolan in January but for the time being he will remain an Inter player, something appreciated by Inter manager Antonio Conte.
