Getafe and manager Quique Sánchez Flores are both keen to continue their relationship, according to AS.

Meetings between both parties for a contract extension reportedly began yesterday, with the Spanish manager’s current deal expiring next month.

Sánchez Flores has already conveyed his will to continue after the most recent game, a 0-0 draw against Barcelona that secured Getafe’s status in the top flight.

“There are things you can’t buy and personal situations you can’t change. I want to be the way I am and when I finish I want to go home and be with my family. All I want is to be here and then with my people. That only happens if I stay at Getafe and I don’t think there will be a problem.”

Eyebrows were raised in recent days after leaked audios of Valencia president Anil Murthy hinted at Sánchez Flores wanting to return to Valencia. Sánchez Flores, however, is keen to remain at Getafe.

The former Atlético Madrid manager took over the reins at Getafe in October 2021 when the club were languishing at the bottom with just one point in eight games. The 57-year-old has done a commendable job since, and steered the club to La Liga safety.
