According to a report by L’Équipe, Quentin Merlin (22) has returned to training with Olympique de Marseille after the fullback picked up a thigh injury during international duty with the France U21s.
Since mid-September, Roberto De Zerbi has been without a player who had made himself a key part of the squad during preseason and the early stages of the campaign. In Merlin’s place, De Zerbi has relied on a mixture of Lilian Brassier (24) and more recently Ulisses Garcia (28).
Merlin was able to take part in the team training sessions on Tuesday the 22nd of October with it being reported that Marseille’s backroom staff will take the next few training sessions to gauge his readiness for Le Classique on Sunday evening.
If Merlin is not quite ready for Paris Saint-Germian’s visit to the Stade Vélodrome, it is expected that he will be part of the squad for the return to his former club FC Nantes on the 3rd of November.
