Q: Brendan, that looked like a dominant and more so a professional performance to kick off pre-season, how pleased were you with the application in the first game?
Brendan Rodgers: “Yeah, really good. We said to both teams in both halves we wanted to start fast and they did that very well. The sharpness will become greater in terms of finishing as we go through, we’re only a week back. But, really pleased and the speed of the ball was excellent and how they shifted it, so it was nice to win.”
Q: You spoke about the younger players before the game, Conor Daly in particular, how would you assess the younger players that came on in the second half and their performance?
Brendan Rodgers: “I thought they were excellent. I thought they came in and had a good tempo in the game, played with a good speed. They were hungry to get the ball and create opportunities. We had one really big opportunity, young Sammy nearly scores. It’s always nice to see young players and see them play with no fear. So I thought some of the combination play was really good.

Q: A lot of the wider group are reporting back this week, the likes of Kieran Tierney and others. What is the plan now for the group before the trip to Cork early next week?
Brendan Rodgers: “Well we’re back in tomorrow morning, we’ll have a good session tomorrow. We’re free Sunday and then we’ll train and travel on Monday. The guys who have just come back probably won’t be involved in the Tuesday game; it’s just too soon coming back but they will be involved next Saturday when we play in Portugal. But, they’ll all be there and all ready for the game.
Q: I know you’ve spoken about it already but as an Irishman yourself to go and see the Irish Celtic supporters, that must be exciting and looking forward to that?
Brendan Rodgers: “Yeah, it’s always a privilege to take Celtic anywhere and lead the team and the club. To go to Ireland with the club is always really special, so we’re looking forward to seeing our friends over there and have a really good game.”
