Crystal Palace are set to demand a fee in excess of £60m for star man Eberechi Eze this summer, with QPR due a percentage of any potential sale.

Eberechi Eze transfer latest

The attacking midfielder joined the Eagles in a £20m deal back in 2020, and it’s fair to say that it has proven to be outstanding business for Palace.

Eze has flourished into one of the most exciting talents in the league, with his performances in the past two years going up a level.

He hit ten goals in the previous Premier League season, and he’s currently on eight in this campaign, but injuries mean those have come from just 24 games.

With his all-round game also hugely impressive, it’s no surprise that Eze is starting to attract interest from elsewhere, with champions Manchester City known to have had him on their radar last summer, although they eventually signed Matheus Nunes from Wolves instead.

And, further details have emerged about Palace’s stance ahead of the summer window, as the BBC revealed that the Londoners will not consider deals that don’t start at £60m for the 25-year-old, and his teammate Michael Olise.

Crucially, the report adds that Palace are under no pressure to sell, and the player is happy at Selhurst Park, so it’s by no means a certainty that he will move on, but it seems clear he is someone who has the ability to play for a Champions League club.

QPR’s Eberechi Eze sell-on clause

There’s no doubt that QPR will be monitoring Eze’s situation closely this summer, as they could be in line for a decent financial windfall if he does secure a switch.

It has been stated that they inserted a 20% sell-on clause as part of the agreement that took the attacker across the capital four years ago.

That usually only applies to profit, and whilst we don’t have exact figures, if Eze did cost £20m, and was sold for £60m, it would represent a £40m profit, so the R’s would be in line to receive £8m.

That is a hefty sum for the club, and those who made sure they included that clause as part of the negotiations will feel vindicated.

QPR’s summer transfer plans

QPR still have work to do to stay in the Championship, and they could confirm their status as a second tier side with a win over Leeds United tonight.

Even if they don’t, relegation seems unlikely, and that’s down to the outstanding job that Marti Cifuentes has done since his arrival.

So, fans will hope to see him backed in the summer, but we know the club isn't in a position where they can just splash the cash like some of their rivals at this level.

With that in mind, Eze moving on could be a real benefit, and Cifuentes will no doubt be hoping those potential funds may be given to him to improve the squad ahead of his first full season.

QPR will hope he continues to drive up his price with more good performances in the final weeks of the season.
