The Irish youngster made his first appearance in senior football for the club in the defeat to Blackburn Rovers in the opening game of the new season.

The 19-year old came off the bench as the team lost 1-0 in Ewood Park.

Despite a minor ankle injury concern keeping him out of the matchday squad last weekend, he is expected to make a first start for Rangers against the Addicks.

Manager Michael Beale strongly hinted that Armstrong will feature on Tuesday night following his explanation for his absence at the weekend.

“Young Sinclair rolled his ankle on Tuesday and didn’t return to training until Friday, so it was best not to take the risk with him with the cup game coming up,” said the QPR boss, via West London Sport.

Loan signing Tyler Roberts is also expected to make his debut for the club having arrived from Leeds United.

QPR got back to winning ways on Saturday when they earned all three points with a 3-2 victory over Middlesbrough.

That was Beale’s first win in charge of the club having taken over as manager during the summer.

The Verdict

Armstrong arrived at QPR from Shamrock Rovers last summer, but this represents his first real opportunity to make an impression in the first team squad.

The forward has a lot of potential and could become a true asset for the team.

However, Roberts has the greater chance of breaking into the first team squad and this will be a true test of his abilities.

The Leeds United loanee will be hoping to earn consistent game time while with the London club and a good performance against the Addicks could put him in line for a place in the team for this weekend’s clash with Sunderland.
