Asmir Begovic's future at QPR is up in the air, with the veteran goalkeeper being the subject of transfer interest from Newcastle United, West Ham, and Saudi Arabia.

The 36-year-old has been offered a new contract at Loftus Road, but it's been reported that he's been subject to transfer interest from Premier League sides and abroad while Celtic and Rangers are both thought to be keen as well.

This gives the former Bosnia goalkeeper a dilemma. If he chooses to stay at QPR he's more likely to play, but moves elsewhere could potentially be very lucrative, particularly if he opts for a move to Saudi.

This means that Marti Cifuentes is still unsure whether his first-choice keeper will be here next season and he'll have to make a decision soon about whether to dip into the transfer market to sign one this summer.

However, if Begovic does decide to leave, the perfect replacement can be found just a couple of miles away.

Marek Rodak could be the perfect replacement for Asmir Begovic at QPR

Marek Rodak has been released by Fulham after over a decade at Craven Cottage and he'll be on the market as a free agent this summer.

This could be a perfect move for QPR as the 27-year-old will be looking for a club, has plenty of Championship experience, has played in the Premier League, and is easily good enough to be the Hoops' first choice.

Crucially, this could appeal to the Slovakian international too, as moving from Fulham to QPR means that he wouldn't have the inconvenience of uprooting everything and moving house. He could continue to stay where he is now, which may appeal to him.

Whilst moving house and moving to different parts of the country and even the world is standard for footballers, if Rodak is settled in London, a move to QPR could be very appealing.

If Cifuentes was to move for Rodak, he'd be getting a goalkeeper that has made 111 Championship appearances, and has been a regular feature in not one, but two promotion-winning campaigns.

It's not unfair to say that Rodak may actually be an upgrade on Begovic given their respective ages and if QPR don't sign him, then the Slovakian is sure to attract interest from the Championship and elsewhere.

If Begovic decides to opt for a new move, and who could blame him at this stage of his career, Cifuentes should be in contact with Rodak immediately about a move across West London.

Marti Cifuentes will want Asmir Begovic's situation sorted urgently

Whether he decides to stay or leave, Begovic will have to make his mind up quickly about what the future holds for him.

This is because if he leaves, Cifuentes will have to sign a new goalkeeper, and this isn't something he'll want to leave until the last minute, with free agents like Rodak potentially being snapped up early in the transfer window.

Cifuentes is clearly a fan of Begovic, hence offering him a new deal, and the 36-year-old wore the captain's armband last season, which shows that he's a leader and that he's well thought of.

However, with Saudi Arabian money on offer, along with moves to clubs like West Ham, Newcastle, and Celtic, it's understandable that the Bosnian is weighing up his options.

One way or another though, Cifuentes needs to know what Begovic's plans are so he can make plans ahead of the upcoming transfer window.
