QPR have managed to climb out of the relegation zone for the first time in months, but still have a long way to go between now and the end of the season.

Having spent the majority of the season in the relegation zone, QPR have leapfrogged Stoke City into 21st place, following a win against Rotherham United on the weekend.

Chris Willock scored the winner in the R's second victory in a row, giving them a better chance of avoiding the drop to League One at the end of the campaign. Manager Marti Cifuentes has turned the team's fortunes around, and will hope that his side can show enough fight to stay in the Championship.

However, one of the biggest issues before the campaign ends is sorting out the future of some of their top players, with recent match winner Willock looking likely to leave the club in the summer.

Chris Willock is out of contract in the summer

WIllock has been one of the standout players for QPR this season, scoring four times and assisting three goals in 18 starts in the Championship so far.

Only Ilias Chair has more goal contributions than the former Arsenal winger, showing just how much value he brings to the London club.

This gave them the chance to sell him for a fee last summer or in the January transfer window. Despite strong links to a move to Rangers last year, he remained at the club and has played an important role for the club, despite their disappointing season so far.

However, with his deal expiring in the summer, it seems almost certain that Willock will say goodbye to the club. At 27-years-old, he is at the point where it may be his last chance to earn a bigger contract, with hopes of playing in the top division slowly fading as each year passes.

Martial Godo could prove a good replacement for Willock in the summer

With Willock likely to leave the club in the summer, QPR should target Wigan Athletic's on-loan forward Martial Godo for a move at the end of the season.

Godo has spent the season at Wigan on loan from his parent club Fulham, and the 20-year-old could prove to be the perfect replacement for Willock, albeit likely only on a temporary basis.

Fulham will likely want to keep a hold of their prospect on a full-time basis, but with few spaces available in the Premier League side's attack to break into, they are likely to approve another loan deal away from Craven Cottage.

Godo is an exciting player who could add a lot to the QPR attack. The forward has averaged 2.48 dribblers per 90 minutes in the league for Wigan this season, ranking him among the top players in League One. This direct attacking threat looks even more promising than Willock, who manages 2.12 successful dribblers per game.

Despite playing in a disappointing Wigan side, who currently sit 15th in the Championship, Godo has proved a great loan signing by manager Shaun Maloney.

While six goal contributions (three goals and three assists) in 21 matches does not overly impress, Godo clearly has raw ability that needs to be nurtured through regular game time and good coaching.

He is getting that at the moment, but the step-up to the Championship would further his development and add quality to a struggling QPR side in the summer.

He still has a lot to improve on, with the forward performing below average on expected goals, expected assists and chances created, but impressing when driving with the ball and getting touches in the opposition box.
