QPR have rejected a £3 million bid from Championship rivals Millwall for Lyndon Dykes, as per a report from the Daily Mail.

The report also claims that Burnley and Stoke City are also keeping tabs on the Scottish striker’s situation at Loftus Road this month.

Dykes, who is also the subject of interest at Scottish outfit Rangers where former R’s boss Mick Beale is currently at, has netted six times in 27 league appearances thus far this season.

The 27-year-old has 18 months left on his current deal at Loftus Road as it remains to be seen where his immediate future lies.

Real or fake: Loftus Road seats more than 20,000 people!

Millwall are certainly in the market for another forward after seeing both Isaac Olaofe and Benik Afobe depart in the earlier stages of this window.

The verdict

Dykes’ physical presence and link-up play make him a difficult player to stop at Championship level and someone who would provide a different kind of striking option to what Gary Rowett has at his disposal at The Den.

However, it remains to be seen if Millwall can up their bid or if they will start looking at targets elsewhere, with £3 million representing a sizeable offer for the Lions.

It is a risk that could help them get over the line in terms of reaching the play-offs, with this showing real ambition as they chase down a top-six spot.

With other Championship clubs also in pursuit, and Rangers, it will be interesting to see if any further bids are lodged for the powerful QPR forward.
