Loftus Park got to witness the 24-year-old's talents last season.

Queens Park Rangers are in the process of bringing ex-loanee Koki Saito back to Loftus Road this summer.

The business that the R's have done this summer under Julien Stephan has provided him with the tools to form quite an impressive attacking line-up.

Two major additions from League One in Kwame Poku and Richard Kone, the latter of them was signed from Wycombe Wanderers on Wednesday, combined with Ilias Chair and Karamoko Dembele is a unit for the supporters to get very excited about.

Despite the money that they have put into this area of the pitch, QPR don't seem to be done yet as, according to West London Sport, the club are moving to bring Saito back to West London.

QPR looking at return deal for Japanese winger

The Japanese winger was a mainstay of Marti Cifuentes' side last season, appearing 39 times in the Championship across the 2024/25 campaign. He racked up six combined goals and assists across his loan spell with the club from Belgian side Lommel SK.

Like the R's, Lommel's season has already got underway, but the 24-year-old, who dislocated his shoulder late last season, is yet to feature at all for his parent club. "He hurt his shoulder," said former boss Cifuentes at the time of the left-winger's injury. "He was in a lot of pain, so they took him to the hospital and now they are doing some tests."

It is not stated what type of deal QPR are looking to agree with Lommel for Saito. He has another two years left on his deal with the Belgian side, who paid just under £2 million to sign him from Japanese side Yokohama FC in January 2021.

QPR shouldn't be entirely focused on Koki Saito deal right now

Saito would likely come back to Loftus Road as a rotational option, rather than someone who is going to start week in, week out, especially now that Dembele is back to full fitness.

There are other positions in the squad that QPR need to address. Their options at left-back have been hampered by the major knee injury that Ziyad Larkeche has suffered. With him set to be out for a number of months, Stephan can't rely solely on teenager Esquerdinha to take up the slack on the left side of the defence.

Unless Stephan sees Saito as someone who could be used in this area of the pitch, it would feel weird to go after a player that isn't going to have a direct impact on the first XI, or at least is less likely to, than a player (a left-back) who probably would come into the starting lineup.
