The Spaniard took the decision to force an exit from the R’s before their final game of the regular Championship season against Sunderland, with assistant coaches Kevin Betsy and Xavi Calm taking charge of their 1-0 victory at the Stadium of Light.

Since then, speculation has begun to ramp up over whom the west-London-based outfit will appoint, with the summer transfer window key to getting the club fighting towards the upper ends of the second tier table.

QPR will spend an 11th consecutive season in the Championship, with this appointment crucial in order to break the duck and give the Loftus Road crowd something to shout about.

With this in mind, Football League World rounds-up the latest news surrounding the ongoing vacancy.

QPR are accelerating efforts to appoint a new manager and have made contact with Frenchman Pierre Sage for talks over the Loftus Road hotseat.

As per French outlet L’Equipe, QPR are interested over a move for the 46-year-old, who has been out of work since the turn of the year after leaving Ligue 1 side Lyon.

The report states that the R’s met with Sage in France over the possibility of becoming their new boss, but he has also drawn interest from relegated Premier League duo Leicester City and Southampton.

Sage’s managerial background includes a short time as an assistant coach at Red Star FC, then returning to Lyon as academy manager in 2023. Just a few months later, he was promoted to the role of first team boss.

In an impressive turnaround, Sage led Lyon to Europa League football but, after a run of five games without victory, he was sacked, which proved to be a very unpopular decision with the Lyon faithful.

Christian Titz will depart his role at FC Magdeburg as he continues to be linked with multiple Championship jobs.

QPR, along with Hull City and Norwich City, are still on the look out for new bosses and interest from English clubs in Titz was reported by Florian Plettenberg, with the journalist revealing it would only cost a small fee to land his signature.

The 54-year-old has been with Magdeburg for nearly four-and-a-half years, winning the German third division in 2021-22, and they have been a stable side in the division above since then, reaching a high of fifth in the table.

The Championship trio also have emerging interest in Titz from German side Hannover 96, who are considering a move to help transform their fortunes.

Despite other names being added into the mix of candidates, TipsBladet reported the 36-year-old had a breakthrough in conversations with the hierarchy, and the situation has advanced to a point where the 36-year-old has held ‘face-to-face’ discussions with the London club.

The outlet believes that Hoff Thorup is ‘close to becoming’ the new manager at Loftus Road.
