Marti Cifuentes continues to turn the ship around at Loftus Road, with Queens Park Rangers picking up maximum points over the Easter double-header to further boost their chances of Championship survival this season.

The Spaniard has worked wonders since taking over from Gareth Ainsworth at the end of last year, with the R’s currently holding all the cards in the battle for survival from the second tier.

With the season soon coming to a close, Cifuentes will have his first summer transfer window to work with, and it will be an interesting time at Loftus Road as the former Hammarby boss gets to put his own stamp on the West London outfit.

That could spell the end for many first-team regulars when June ends, as well as some players not as close to the playing squad who will more than likely move to pastures new in search of more playing time.

With that in mind, we’ve taken a look at what the current situation is at Loftus Road heading into the off-season, and what players look likely to leave the club if everything stays as it is.

Jimmy Dunne

Although Hoops fans would happily sign Jimmy Dunne up to a lengthy new deal after his injury-time thunderbolt to beat Birmingham City on Good Friday, Dunne’s contract is set to expire in June - although the club do have an option of a one-year extension.

The Irishman joined the club from Burnley in 2021, and has gone on to feature over 100 times for the club, with Cifuentes transforming him from a centre back into a fullback in recent months.

That move has seemed to do the defender and his side the world of good, with a number of top performances helping claw the R’s out of the relegation zone after a poor start to the season.

Cifuentes is obviously a big fan of the player, stating after the Birmingham win:“He deserves everything. I’m very happy for him. He’s a quality, quality human being.”

We will have to wait and see whether that one-year option is to be triggered by the club, but as it stands he is on his way out of Loftus Road.

Chris Willock

Big things were expected of Chris Willock after such a promising start to the previous campaign, but the former Arsenal man has failed to deliver for much of the current season, with just a handful of goals to show for his efforts in 23-24.

A brilliant player on his day, the ex-Benfica star hasn’t hit the heights as often as Rangers fans would have liked, and looks set to leave the club when his contract expires in just under three months' time.

QPR triggered an extension in his contract last summer, but they are uncertain to try and extend his contract further after a mediocre campaign, with Cifuentes likely to prefer to get some new faces in the dressing room to shake things up a bit next season.

Three goals in three games around the start of December proves he still has quality on offer, as well as the winner against Rotherham United in February, but it looks as if his race could be run in a blue and white shirt.

This is the one that everyone will be focused on over the summer, with Sinclair Armstrong’s contract still set to expire despite the club having a one-year contract option they could potentially make the most of.

The powerful forward was one of the few shining lights during a tough start to the campaign for Rangers, with his dynamism in the forward areas so often helping to change the tide of a game and get his team upfield.

The 20-year-old is said to have been offered a five-year contract by the club as long ago as October, but he is reportedly yet to put pen to paper to extend his time at Loftus Road further than the end of the current campaign.

With the likes of Manchester City and Crystal Palace said to be interested in acquiring his services, Rangers will be hoping an agreement can be made for the academy product to stop them losing out on a small fortune of a transfer fee if he is to leave the club.

Osman Kakay

He may be Queens Park Rangers born and bred, but Osman Kakay’s future at the club looks like it could be coming to an end after nearly two decades with the club.

The 26-year-old only has a few months left on his current deal and doesn’t seem to be in line for a new contract at Loftus Road, meaning he will have to find new permanent employers for the first time in his career.

Having joined the club at the age of eight, it will be an emotional goodbye for the youth product, who has struggled for game time since the start of the year.

With the majority of his appearances coming under previous boss Ainsworth, it looks as if Kakay isn’t part of Cifuentes’ long-term plans, and his future lies elsewhere.

Elijah Dixon-Bonner

Despite playing more than half of his side’s matches this season, there doesn’t seem to be much clamour in keeping Elijah Dixon-Bonner at the club past this coming June.

The 23-year-old was something of a regular from the bench before the start of the year, but found game time difficult after the January transfer window, when Rangers got in some new recruits to bolster the squad.

That means the former Liverpool man could be one of the many QPR players on the hunt for a new club this summer, bringing his two-year association with the club to an end.

Asmir Begovic

A regular in the Rangers net, Begovic only signed a one-year deal with the club last summer, and it is looking unlikely that he will be retained for the following campaign.

With 10 clean sheets this season, the Bosnian has helped his side climb the table during their 2024 resurgence, and has regularly displayed his class between the sticks to earn his side valuable points.

At 36 years of age, the former Chelsea man could still do a job for many a Championship side if they are in need of a shot-stopper next season, although QPR are probably quite happy to get him off the wage bill.

Earning an estimated £32,500 a week, the goalkeeper is the club’s highest earner this year, and Cifuentes will no doubt be able to find a cheaper replacement when the summer comes along.

Albert Adomah

This could be the hardest of goodbyes, with fans favourite and long-serving player Albert Adomah potentially seeing his time at Loftus Road coming to an end.

The self-confessed QPR fan has enjoyed life in West London since joining from Nottingham Forest in 2020, and has gone on to play over 100 times for the club he loves.

But having turned 36 at the end of last year, time isn’t on the Ghana international’s side any more, and it looks as if his time with the club will be coming to an emotional end in the summer.

With just a handful of appearances to his name this season, the former Aston Villa man has performed as professionally as ever in the hope of keeping his boyhood club in the division, and looks set to achieve that goal before leaving the club.

It remains to be seen whether the wide man will look for another club or hang up his boots once his contract comes to an end, but either way it will be a tear-jerker when he puts on the blue and white for the final time.
