EFL Pundit and former England international Carlton Palmer has said that a move for Karamoko Dembele to Leeds United or Leicester City would be more beneficial as he will get more game time, compared to a move to Everton or West Ham.

It had been reported by HITC earlier this week that Dembele has been attracting interest from Championship sides Leeds, Leicester, Southampton and Middlesbrough.

They will also be facing competition from Premier League sides Everton, West Ham United, Brentford, Fulham, Wolves and Nottingham Forest.

The 21-year-old is enjoying a fruitful loan spell in League One with Blackpool, spending the season with the Tangerines on loan from French side Stade Brest.

He has been performing excellently at Bloomfield Road, and so far has six goals and ten assists in 32 league games.

Palmer exclusively told FLW: “Karamoko Dembele is attracting a lot of interest. He is on loan at Blackpool which has seen the 21-year-old excel, he has been in superb form for Blackpool this season. He has contributed to 19 goals across all competitions.

“This has brought him to the attention of West Ham and Everton, who are looking at the player. It will be interesting to see if they can make a deal with his present club to get him out. With his age at 21, he could be a possible top-flight player.

“Maybe a Leeds or a Leicester would be more appealing to a player in terms of him getting more game time. If he went to Everton or West Ham, he would be more of a squad player.

“It will be interesting to see what happens with him. He has done really, really well, and at the age of 21 I think he would look to go to a club perhaps like Leeds or Leicester where he will be guaranteed more game time if he moves.”

Dembele will have plenty of options but needs to pick the right move

As the report suggests, Dembele will have a whole host of clubs he can pick from when it comes to choosing where to take the next stage of his career.

But when it comes to who he decides to join, he needs to pick the side that offers the most game time.

It is unlikely that he will get any sides in the Premier League, due to the massive step up in level from League One to the top flight.

A move to a Premier League side would suffice, but he would more than likely have to go out on loan.

Dembele has excelled for Blackpool playing in central midfield, with his tricky feet and pace causing many problems for teams in the middle of the park.

He has a contract at Brest until 2026, so it will take a fee, and probably a larger one at that, to bring him in, due to his age and nationality.

All the teams mentioned should be able to afford him though, so that should not be a problem. But many young players have not lived up to their potential because they have picked the wrong move. Dembele needs to make sure he does not become one of those.
