Luton Town added two fresh faces to their squad on Deadline Day with Marvelous Nakamba and Joe Taylor arriving at Kenilworth Road.

The former, who joined on loan from Aston Villa, has accumulated good experience in England’s top-flight and across Europe, whilst the latter arrived from Peterborough United for an undisclosed fee.

Nakamba signed for Aston Villa back in the summer of 2019 for a fee that went beyond £11 million, with the 29-year-old still possessing 18 months on his contract with the Midlands outfit.

Asked if he sees this as being good business from the Hatters as they look to keep hold of their play-off spot, Carlton Palmer told Football League World“Yeah, absolutely.

“He played 16 games in the Premier League last season and he’s played in the Champions League,

“He is a holding midfield player and is a different type of player but he’s very, very physical in his appearance.

“So it’s a good signing for Luton in their quest for promotion, as I say, there’s a lot of teams in that cluster now, you know, Luton, West Brom Middlesbrough, Watford, Norwich, are all vying for those play-off places and a signing like this could make a big impact.”

Nakamba is an exciting addition and Luton fans will primarily be hoping that he can get to full fitness quickly and stay fit for his loan stint in Bedfordshire.

Tough, tenacious, a good reader of the game and possessing a strong range of passing, he could prove to be an inspired signing as the Hatters continue what has been a positive start to Rob Edwards’ tenure.

An experienced figure who will be striving to be a regular in Edwards’ starting XI, it could be a loan move that benefits all parties.

Luton have an excellent track record when it comes to recruiting quality and this has the potential to be another success story.
