Arsenal may sanction an exit for Eddie Nketiah if it is on a permanent basis.

That is the view of former Gunners forward Kevin Campbell, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the 21-year-old’s severe lack of game time since the new year.

Nketiah has played just nine minutes of first team football since the 2-1 loss at Everton on 19 December.

The form of Alexandre Lacazette and return of Gabriel Martinelli from injury have seen the England Under-21 international fall down the pecking order at the Emirates.

The Evening Standard reported earlier this month that West Ham were eyeing a move for Nketiah following the £20million sale of Sebastien Haller to Ajax.

However, Mikel Arteta is adamant that the striker will be staying at the club beyond this month’s transfer deadline.

Campbell suggested that the club’s stance could change if a bid in the region of £20million is received for Nketiah.

“With Martinelli back in the frame as well, West Ham might be a good opportunity for Nketiah to leave whether it be on loan or permanently, and I can see it happening,” he told Football Insider.

“Arteta has to chop and change that squad. There are a couple of tough decisions coming up.

“If you can get £20million for Nketiah, that could be put to good use somewhere else in the squad. There is more of a need in other positions so I think it is business that the club might do.”
