Kevin Campbell has tipped Divock Origi to leave Liverpool next year but insisted it is “through no fault of his own”.

The former Arsenal and West Brom striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs, claimed “the writing is on the wall” for the 25-year-old after a “phenomenal” start to the season by Diogo Jota.

Origi has just one minute of Premier League action to his name this season and has failed to impress on his two Champions League starts against FC Midtjylland and Atalanta.

His game time has significantly reduced since the arrival of Jota from Wolves, the £42million summer signing scoring a staggering nine goals in his first 15 games.

During a five-year spell at Anfield, Origi has written himself into Liverpool folklore with match-winning displays in the club’s Champions League and Premier League winning campaigns.

When asked by Football Insider for his assessment of the Belgium international’s future, Campbell said:

“I think the writing is on the wall for Divock Origi, to be honest.

“It is through no real fault of his own but Liverpool are progressing as a team.

“Jota is a player who can play across that front line. He is more flexible at a higher level than Origi.

“They brought Jota in and he has hit the ground running. He has been phenomenal this season.

“Origi will have to move on next year to get first team football.”
