Tottenham Hotspur finds itself in urgent need of a top-class central defender, and a German international could be the perfect fit.
After a tumultuous season in the Premier League, the Spurs are keen to strengthen their squad in order to rise back to the top.
Key players such as Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven have struggled with injuries, and Tottenham’s defence has suffered in their absence.

One player who has emerged as a potential target is Jonathan Tah, the 28-year-old German centre-back, who has been impressing for Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga with his leadership and solid defensive performances.
Tah will become a free agent in the summer of 2025, and Tottenham has taken note of his contract situation. It is no surprise that major clubs such as Bayern Munich, Juventus, and Real Madrid are also closely monitoring his status.
According to reports, talks have already taken place between Tah and some of these top clubs.
However, despite Tottenham’s interest, John Wenham, from the "Lilywhite Rose" podcast, has shared his thoughts on the potential deal.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Tottenham News, Wenham expressed his belief that Tah is more likely to join Bayern Munich than Spurs: "He has fantastic leadership skills. However, I just see him signing for Bayern Munich on a free transfer, without question."
Wenham also praised Tah for his excellent performances, particularly during Bayer Leverkusen’s unbeaten Bundesliga season, but he noted that the centre-back’s position has often led to him flying under the radar for many.
It is believed that Bayern Munich holds a significant advantage in the race for Tah, given the club’s long-standing strategy of signing Bundesliga players without having to pay a transfer fee.
This makes Bayern a particularly attractive destination for the defender. With Bayern Munich leading the charge, Tottenham faces a tough battle to secure Tah’s signature.
Given the high likelihood that Tah will join Bayern Munich, Wenham suggested that Tottenham may need to explore alternative options to bolster their defensive ranks.
On the other hand, the club that stands out for its leadership under Tah, Chelsea, is leading the race to sign the player, and it remains to be seen how the situation develops.
