Pundit Andy Gray believes that Aston Villa midfielder Jack Grealish would walk into Liverpool’s current first XI.

Grealish, 24, has had a solid season at Villa Park. With that being the case, he is being linked with a move away from the club.

Gray, who works for beIN SPORTS, believes that if Grealish were to make a move to Liverpool come the end of the season, he would walk into the first XI, as he is better than any of Jurgen Klopp’s current midfielders.

“I know he’s a Villa fan, his family are all Villa fans, he loves the club and he loves being captain,” Gray told beIN SPORTS.

“But Jack’s 24 now and I think there is a decision coming at the end of this season. And I hate to say it, but I don’t think he’ll be there in August.

“If I was a coach of any of the top-six, and I include Liverpool in this, he would make the team better. He is, in my opinion, better than any of Liverpool’s midfield players.

“I think is better than Keita. I think he’s better than Wijnaldum. I think he’d get into the City side. He’s much better than Foden. I just think he’s that good.”

This is a huge call by Gray. Liverpool possess some serious depth in midfield. In fact, there are some quality players who just can’t get a game in Liverpool’s midfield right now due to the talent that is within it.

Grealish certainly has talent, but that itself won’t get you a game under Klopp. The German’s midfield possesses players who run and work hard. It isn’t all about having talent with the ball.

The Reds possess a 14-point lead at the top of the Premier League table with a game in hand. It is highly unlikely that Grealish would walk into this Liverpool side based purely off that statistic.
