Ismael Saibari’s hopes of going to the World Cup have been dashed with the PSV winger ruled out until after the winter break after picking up a hamstring injury.

With Noni Madueke injured, Saibari has broken into the PSV first team this season, starting the majority of matches in both the Eredivisie and Europe.

His performances gave him hope of breaking into the Morocco squad in time for the World Cup, but his hopes of being on the plane to Qatar are now over.

The 21-year-old picked up a hamstring injury against Heerenveen and his club have now confirmed that he’ll be out until after the winter break as a result.

Yorbe Vertessen was also injured in the first half of that match, which ended 1-0 to his team, but his issue is slightly less serious, with PSV hopeful that he’ll be able to return before the season pauses for the World Cup.
