PSV are keeping a close eye on Keito Nakamura as a potential replacement for Cody Gakpo, Voetbal International’s Marco Timmer reports.

Since Gakpo’s transfer to Liverpool, PSV do have Anwar El Ghazi – who they brought in the summer from Aston Villa – as their go-to replacement and even their director of football Marcel Brands admitted it is a possibility for the former Ajax player to be the main man on the left-wing for Ruud van Nistelrooy.

He will certainly be a short-term replacement at least when PSV restart their Eredivisie campaign when they welcome Sparta Rotterdam at the Philips Stadion.

PSV’s rumoured shortlist continues to grow as Japanese winger Nakamura is joined in good company with Victor Tsygankov, Jesper Karlsson and Donyell Malen

The 22-year-old currently plays for LASK Linz in Austria, where he has picked up eight goals and five assists in fifteen games and Nakamura is no stranger to the Netherlands either having played for FC Twente in the 2019/20 season.

Nakamura still has a contract until mid-2025, but he is open to a departure from Austria. Sources say the left winger should cost between €5-6 million. However, the interest of PSV is not yet concrete at the moment.
