Burnley and Leeds United are facing an uphill battle for Daniel Peretz, as PSV Eindhoven lead the race to sign the goalkeeper.
Newly promoted sides Leeds United and Burnley are keen on a move for FC Bayern Munich goalkeeper Daniel Peretz, but face stronger competition from PSV Eindhoven for his signature.
The Israel international goalkeeper could be on his way out of the German champions this summer, and is reportedly not short of potential destinations ahead of the summer transfer window.
According to the latest reports by BILD, two English clubs are now ‘serious’ about a move for Peretz. Those clubs in question are Premier League newcomers Leeds United and Burnley.
The 24-year-old is said to be keen on becoming Bayern’s first-choice goalkeeper in the future, and is keen to gain some vital experience out on loan in 2025/26. This has seen both Leeds and Burnley register interest in taking Peretz on loan.
However, the English duo will face stiff competition for his services, as Champions League side PSV Eindhoven also reportedly hold interest in Peretz, and could offer him the chance to play in Europe’s top competition, which the other two can’t.
Both of the Premier League newcomers could be in the market for a new man between the sticks this summer, but for totally different reasons. Burnley could lose James Trafford after an excellent season in the Championship, whilst Leeds must find a replacement for the error-prone Illan Meslier.
This has seen both clubs reportedly set their sights on Bayern Munich shot-stopper Daniel Peretz, who is keen on a loan away from the German giants to gain crucial experience, and ultimately take the gloves from Manuel Neuer in the future.
However, a deal for the Israeli goalkeeper could be difficult as there are reportedly plenty of clubs across Europe chasing Peretz this summer. One of these is Champions League outfit PSV Eindhoven, who could offer the 24-year-old a chance to play at the pinnacle of European football.
According to the report by BILD, talks are being held between Bayern and Leeds, but Genoa are also in talks to take the goalkeeper on loan. However, PSV are said to be in pole position to land Peretz this summer.
As mentioned, the report suggests that the 24-year-old is keen to make progress towards becoming Bayern’s number one in the near future, and he could be tempted by the prospect of playing Champions League football.
Of course, the ambition of the German club is to be European champions once again in the next few years, and having Champions League experience under his belt could make Peretz a more serious candidate to be Bayern’s number one after Neuer moves on.
He’s only played seven games for the club since arriving from Maccabi Tel Aviv in 2023, and desperately needs minutes if he wants a chance to break into the first team at the Allianz Arena.
Whilst Leeds and Burnley would be able to offer him consistent minutes in the English top flight, it might be more beneficial for Bayern to send him to PSV, where he’ll gain Champions League experience. With that in mind, the English duo might have to look elsewhere.
