With Noni Madueke injured, PSV are considering trying to bring Donyell Malen back to the club from Borussia Dortmund as a replacement, while Joshua Zirkzee is another player on their radar.

Madueke, one of the club’s most exciting talents, picked up an injury in pre-season and looks to set to be out until the end of 2022 at the least.

In the first games of the new season, academy players Johan Bakayoko and Ismael Saibari have taken his place on the right side of attack, but while both have impressed at times, Ruud van Nistelrooy would like to bring a new player in to fill that role.

According to Voetbal International, Malen has been identified as a potential option. The Dutchman left PSV for Dortmund in a €30 million move just a year ago but didn’t enjoy the best debut season, scoring just nine goals in 38 games.

Even so, with Erling Haaland’s departure, he’s set to play a bigger part this season, so it’s unlikely that the German club would allow him to leave unless they sign another forward themselves.

Perhaps a more realistic option for PSV is Joshua Zirkzee, who VI say they’re also interested in. After impressing last year on loan at Anderlecht, the Dutchman returned to his parent club Bayern Munich this summer but looks set to leave, with multiple clubs interested.
