Paul Wanner has completed his transfer from Bayern Munich to PSV. The 19-year-old attacking midfielder has signed a five-year contract in Eindhoven, running until the summer of 2030.
According to German media, Wanner’s transfer fee is expected to reach 15 million euros, making him one of the most expensive signings in PSV history. A buyback option is also mentioned, as was the case in a previous transfer deal with Malik Tillman. PSV, however, have not disclosed a transfer fee or an option.
Wanner comes to Eindhoven with 35 Bundesliga matches under his belt, as well as two Champions League appearances. Bayern had also loaned him out to FC Heidenheim and SV Elversberg in recent seasons. Wanner has made a total of eight appearances for Bayern’s first team and is also a youth international for Germany. He currently has eight caps for the German U21s.
The attacking midfielder is PSV’s eighth signing, following Ruben van Bommel, Yarek Gasiorowski, Nick Olij, Matej Kovar (loan with an option to buy), Kiliann Sildillia, Alassane Pléa, and Dennis Man. “Paul is a creative, dynamic, attacking, and modern midfielder,” says director Earnest Stewart. “He’s an open guy who asks a lot of questions. He’s truly someone with a willingness to improve; you can tell from all the conversations.”
Clearly, Wanner can’t wait to get started in Eindhoven. “I’m incredibly happy to be here and to be playing for PSV from now on. I want to contribute as much as possible to the success here and help the club with goals and assists. I feel completely ready for this challenge and know this step is the right one.”
