Speaking to the press on the eve of the Champions League final, Paris Saint-Germain’s in-form striker Ousmane Dembélé highlighted the need for the Ligue 1 winners to stay level-headed throughout their clash against Inter:
“As I’ve said before, we’re very proud to be here in the final. We’ve worked hard, and we were able to turn things around. Inter are a very physical team who know how to defend, so we’ll have to weather the storm. We’ll have to be serious from start to finish, because any slip-up can cost us dearly.”
“We’ll have to control our emotions, we know that there’s a lot of excitement around this Champions League final. We’re excited ourselves. As we kept telling ourselves during the week, though, we’ll need to control our emotions and play calmly and seriously, but also with a smile on our faces. We’ll have to control all of those emotions, which I think will be one of the keys for this match.”
With 33 goals this season, most of them coming since the turn of the year, the former Barcelona man has arguably been the continent’s standout performer in 2025. Dembélé was quick to brush off any talk of individual awards, though, ahead of a match which could be decisive for his Ballon d’Or chances:
“The most important thing when you’re a PSG player is to win, especially the Champions League. More than anything, I’m focused on the team rather than individual trophies. Of course, it’s crossed my mind, but I’m focusing on the team.”
