Fabrizio Romano is reporting that Marco Verratti’s (30) long-awaited move from Paris Saint-Germain to Qatari side Al-Arabi is set to be completed.

Verratti was a surprise addition to PSG’s long list of “undesirables” this summer. The veteran Italian midfielder, who has been at the club for over a decade, was informed by Luis Campos and Luis Enrique earlier this summer that he was surplus to requirements and that he should find a new club.

The most intense interest has come from Qatar, whose transfer window remains open until 18th September. The deal between the two clubs has now been in place for some time, and according to Romano, is worth €45m. Verratti will now travel to Doha, Qatar, on Monday ahead of the completion of the much-anticipated transfer to Al-Arabi.

PSG teammate Julian Draxler (29) could yet join Verratti in Qatar. The German international had been expected to make the move to Al-Ahli SC, however, he has delayed his final decision amidst family concerns over the move, as per a report from L’Équipe. The deal is not yet dead, and Draxler could become the second PSG midfielder to trade the Parc des Princes for the Qatari top-flight.
