Paris Saint-Germain manager Luís Enrique has revealed a preference to face Atletico Madrid, rather than Borussia Dortmund in a potential semi-final clash in the UEFA Champions League.
During the 2022 Qatar World Cup, former Spain Luís Enrique was praised for his transparency during a series of Twitch streams, where he answered questions posed by viewers. On Thursday, he did his first Twitch stream since becoming PSG manager and opened up on a wide range of topics.
Following PSG’s progression to the quarter-final stage of the Champions League for the first time in three years, the club’s run in Europe was of course a pertinent topic. Victory over Real Sociedad earlier this month secured a tie against Barcelona. In the event of a victory over the Catalan side over two legs, Les Parisiens would then face either Atletico Madrid or Dortmund.
PSG faced the latter in the group stages of this year’s competition and Luís Enrique instead favours another trip to Spain. “I’d prefer to play Atletico Madrid in the semi-finals,” began the PSG manager. “We already played Dortmund at the start of the season and also, it would allow me to go back to Spain again. In the final, if we ever reached it… I’d be able to meet Pep Guardiola again or even Mikel Arteta. That’d be great,” he added.
Having already faced Real Sociedad, Luís Enrique is therefore targeting an all-Spanish route to this year’s Champions League final.
