Another day brings another raft of rumours about Neymar’s future.

But this one is quite interesting.

The Brazilian has made no secret of his desire to leave Paris Saint-Germain this summer and it’s one of football’s worst kept secrets that both Barcelona and Real Madrid are interested in signing him.

But it seems neither of the two LaLiga giants are able to cough up the world record fee PSG paid for the 27-year-old two summers ago, nor do the Ligue 1 champions appear to be particularly interested in doing a players-plus-cash deal.

However, a compromise could be on the horizon.

According to Goal, PSG are open to the idea of letting Neymar leave on an initial season-long loan deal with an obligation to buy for a fee in the region of €220-250m next summer.

Neymar’s preference is reportedly Barça and a report from French outlet Le Parisien over the weekend claimed Lionel Messi has personally requested his former team-mate’s return to Camp Nou.

But, especially given it now seems they are highly unlikely to sign Paul Pogba from Manchester United, Real Madrid could rival the Catalans for Neymar’s signature, while Goal claim Juventus could also be potentially interested in pairing the Brazilian with Cristiano Ronaldo in Turin.

With two weeks of the transfer window remaining, we still don’t know where the former Santos man is going to end up.

But it’s beginning to feel like a breakthrough could be close.
