The second legs of the Champions League semi-finals take place this midweek and there is not too much separating Paris Saint-Germain and Borussia Dortmund going into their meeting at the Parc des Princes on Tuesday.

Dortmund hold a slender 1-0 advantage from last week’s encounter at Signal Iduna Park, with Niclas Fullkrug’s first-half strike earning the German side what could be a crucial first-leg victory.

The second leg is available to watch on TV in the UK on TNT Sports 1, with the match due to kick off at 20:00 BST.

A second chance at Champions League glory for outgoing Mbappe?

Despite their continued domestic dominance which has seen the Parisians win a record-extending 12th Ligue 1 title this season, PSG have notoriously struggled on the continental stage, with the French giants still yet to lift European club football’s biggest prize.

The closest they came to breaking their duck was in 2020 when they reached the final only to lose 1-0 to Bayern Munich, an opponent they could face in the showpiece once again should the Bavarian giants progress past Real Madrid in their semi-final.

Including this season, PSG have reached the semi-final stage in two of the four years since that final defeat in 2020, and the French outfit will likely feel confident of booking their place at Wembley, having beaten BVB 2-0 at home in the group stage earlier this season.

Star striker and captain Kylian Mbappe is expected to leave the French capital after seven years at the club – with Real Madrid his likely destination – and he will be sorely missed in Paris, having scored over 20 goals in five of his seven seasons at the club.

Widely regarded as one of the best players in the world, Mbappe’s talent alone could potentially pull them over the line to both reach and win the final in Wembley, and gifting PSG their first European title would be the perfect send off for departing forward.

Central defender Lucas Hernandez sustained an ACL injury in the first leg, meaning he will miss out on France’s Euro 2024 squad and may also not play again until next year.

Sergio Rico (head), Layvin Kurzawa (back) and Presnel Kimpembe (achilles) will also play no part in the second leg, while the likes of Lucas Beraldo and Randal Kolo Muani will be pushing for starts after featuring from off the bench in Dortmund.

For BVB, Julian Ryerson and Karim Adeyemi suffered knocks in the first leg although both are expected to be fit enough to start at the Parc des Princes on Tuesday night.

There is also hope amongst the Dortmund camp that striker Sebastien Haller could return to feature in some capacity. However, Ramy Bensebaini (knee) and Julien Duranville (muscle) will both definitely miss out.
