PSG are pulling all the stops to sign Ajax star Matthijs de Ligt this summer.
According to a report from Spanish daily Sport, new PSG director of football Leonardo will use his strong relationship with de Ligt’s agent Mino Raiola to his advantage and offer the 19-year-old an astounding €15m annual salary (€288,000-a-week).
That figure could be as much as triple what Barcelona have offered the player, with figures thought to be anywhere from €5-7m per year.
PSG is rumoured to be willing to bid €90m for the Dutch international, which would be €15m more than what Barcelona is said to have offered Ajax for the 15-time Dutch international.
De Ligt’s Netherlands and Ajax team-mate Frenkie de Jong was brought into the Barcelona squad for €75m and has made it clear on Thursday that he hopes the Ajax captain joins him in Catalonia.
“No, he has to make his own decisions. Of course, I would like him to come to Barcelona but we will see what happens. It’s up to him.
“You have to ask him about it but I hope he comes to Barcelona.
“Of course we talk about it [De Ligt joining Barca]. It’s not up to me to say what he’s going to do or his thoughts.
“I don’t have an influence on his choice. He has to make it on his own and with his family.”
De Ligt and the Netherlands will face off against Portugal in the UEFA Nations League final on Sunday.
