Despite having big-name players leading the frontline, it was Idrissa Gana Gueye who opened the scoring with a thumping strike from distance.

The hosts continued to hold a strong grip on the match but Montpellier’s defensive performance did enough to frustrate Mauricio Pochettino’s side.

Ander Herrera came close to adding a second for PSG but his strike hit off the woodwork leaving things 1-0 at half-time.

Coming out after the break, Gueye continued to threaten Montpellier’s backline while both Kylian Mbappé and Neymar saw shots go wide.

Down at the other end, goalkeeper Keylor Navas was forced into action to keep things in favour of the hosts.

Eventually, substitute Julian Draxler doubled the lead late on and Pochettino’s side go 10 points clear at the top of the table.
