The French outlet claim that the 22-year-old is ‘very interested’ in the idea of working with manager Ruben Amorim after their together at Sporting CP.

He sees an ‘excellent prospect’ to reunite with the Portuguese at United, but PSG have no plans of sanctioning his exit during the current window.

Mendes has turned down PSG’s latest contract offer to extend beyond June 2026, but they are still optimistic that he will commit his future to the club.

Negotiations are in full swing over an extension, and Les Parisiens are prepared to wait until the summer to find out whether the defender will stay put.

Mendes could be reunited with Amorim next summer

United have had a good working relationship with PSG over the years.

They sanctioned the departure of Angel di Maria to the French champions back in the summer of 2015.

Last summer, the Red Devils secured the signature of midfielder Manuel Ugarte after a long saga.

Ugarte has been a revelation since Amorim took charge, considering he had a strong relationship with the Portuguese during their time at Sporting CP.

If the 22-year-old continues his contract stand-off until the summer, Les Parisiens may have no choice but to part ways with the highly-rated left-back.

The Ligue 1 holders purchased him from Sporting CP for £34 million. They could seek to make a profit on the defender, given his age and big potential.

He is valued at £46m by Transfermarkt, and Les Parisiens could hold out for a similar sum.
