PSG superstar Lionel Messi has won a seventh Ballon D'Or award.

The Argentine pipped out Bayern Munich superstar Robert Lewandowski.

Messi endured one of his worst seasons domestically as Barcelona finished third and fell in the first knockout round of the Champions League.

However, he was the top scorer in La Liga, and most importantly, won the Copa America with Argentina.

It is this historic trophy which likely got Messi past Lewandowski, who scored 48 goals across all competitions last season.

Chelsea midfielders Jorginho finished third in the votes after winning the Champions League and Euro 2020 with Italy.

Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema slotted into fourth ahead of another Chelsea midfielder N'Golo Kante.
