In a Bleacher Report interview, Paris Saint-Germain stalwart Marco Asensio, who boasts experience alongside and against elite talents throughout his career, assumed an executive role. He highlighted the La Liga player he desires as a teammate.
The outlet asked Asensio what La Liga player he would want to buy if he ran a club and noted that his top target is his former Real Madrid teammate Toni Kroos.
“A player I would recruit in La Liga? Toni Kroos,” Asensio told the outlet (h/t Le10Sport). “Every year, it seems like it could be his last year, but he just keeps getting better and better. I think he’s a player who will play as long as he wants.”
PSG will be in the market for a midfielder to bolster the group this summer. If the capital club were to ask the 28-year-old who they should pursue, there’s no doubt he’d recommend the German player.
Although the Parisians need to tweak their midfield further, pursuing a 34-year-old near the end of their career isn’t the wisest choice. Nonetheless, what PSG can do is look at the characteristics Kroos brings to the table and look for a player with similar qualities to the Real Madrid star.
