PSG’s grip on their Ligue 1 title has almost been relinquished after failing to keep pace with leaders Lille with a surprise slip-up at Rennes.

In a first half that was low on incident, a big one led to the breakthrough in injury-time when PSG were awarded a contentious penalty after a lengthy VAR consultation when Nayef Aguerd was adjudged to have committed a foul as he attempted to block the ball.

Fresh from signing a new deal at the Parc des Princes, Neymar stepped up to squeeze a penalty beyond Alfred Gomis’ grasp.

But Sehrou Guirassy found the shock equaliser with 20 minutes remaining before PSG’s temperament was again brought under the microscope when Presnel Kimpembe saw red for a poorly-timed late tackle.

They almost won it in the closing stages but ultimately settled for a point that means Lille now just need four points from their final two games to claim a stunning French championship.
