Paris Saint-Germain appear set to make a surprise deadline day swoop for DC United midfielder Luciano Acosta.
According to the Washington Post, Acosta flew to Paris on Wednesday evening and is set to undergo a medical on Thursday.
The Ligue 1 giants will be hoping to complete the signing of the 24-year-old before the European transfer window closes on Thursday night, and the transfer fee is believed to be in the region of €8.5m.
The Washington Post claim Manchester City and another unnamed Premier League club are also interested in the uncapped Argentine but it seems his most likely destination is currently the French capital.
Acosta moved to DC on an initial loan deal from Boca Juniors before making the move permanent in 2016.
Last season, he formed a fruitful attacking partnership with Wayne Rooney and finished the campaign with 17 assists – the second best record in MLS.
PSG have also been linked with deadline day loan moves for Arsenal’s Mesut Özil and Chelsea’s Willian but as things stand, neither of those deals seem likely to go through.
