L’Équipe report today that Paris Saint-Germain are set to end the season with €700m generated in revenue, a club record.

The figure beats 2018-19 result of €637.3m, and is seven times more than what Les Parisiens were generating in the 2010-11 campaign.

Lionel Messi’s arrival will have undoubtedly had an impact, with the club adding 11 new sponsorship partners. The overall income from this department is likely to reach €310m.

This includes a recent deal with online sales platform GOAT, which will bring in €50m over three years, as the team’s sleeve sponsor. Qatar Airways is also set to become the main shirt sponsor for €60m-€70m a season.

The Argentine’s impact has also been seen in terms of shirt sales – one million have been sold, with 60% having the former Barcelona man’s name on the back. Overall, the club reached last year’s merchandising total – €41m – in just half a season this term

Matchday revenue has also increased, from €93m in 2019/20 to €132m this year, and is expected to increase still for the season to come.

The only department in which the numbers will have been below expectations is for broadcast rights, with the club having had a semi-final place in the Champions League in view, past the usual season target of the quarter-finals. The total revenue from televised games is expected to be just under €200m, while €40m will come from pre-season tours and events at the Parc des Princes outside of matchdays.
