Paris Saint-Germain have fired Thomas Tuchel after two-and-a-half seasons together.

Tuchel won the Ligue 1 title in both of his campaigns in charge, as well as both the Coupe de la Ligue and Coupe de France in 2020.

Tuchel also led the team to their first ever Champions League final last season, where they lost 1-0 to Bayern Munich.

PSG are currently third in Ligue 1 this season, recently drew with second-placed Lille, and are one point off top spot. That isn’t enough in a league they are expected to dominate and have won in seven of the last eight seasons.

Tuchel was, according to reports, informed of the decision to move on after the side’s 4-0 defeat of Strasbourg on 23 December.

After over a year out of the game, Mauricio Pochettino is widely expected to take over at his former club.
