French champions Paris Saint-Germain have made a €50million bid to sign Man Utd-linked Atalanta striker Rasmus Hojlund, according to reports.

Erik ten Hag has made the 20-year-old his top priority after completing the signings of Andre Onana and Mason Mount.

A year on from paying £14.7m, the Bergamo outfit are set to receive a huge profit for the young Dane amid interest from Man Utd and PSG.

The former have already reached an agreement on personal terms, Romano added, though the Ligue 1 side’s interest has now turned into a formal bid.

According to L’Equipe, PSG’s opening offer for Hojlund is worth €50m (£42.9m).

Luis Enrique’s side are in the market for a new No. 9 with Kylian Mbappe up for sale and Hojlund would certainly be an interesting option.

The report says the Parisiens are awaiting Atalanta’s response and are unwilling to go any higher, which does indicate they will give Man Utd a free run when the bid is inevitably rejected.

Furthermore, this bid is lower than Man Utd’s and Hojlund has reportedly agreed to move to Old Trafford.

If PSG miss out on the Danish international, they could turn their attention to Tottenham’s Harry Kane, who should be allowed to leave for at least £100m.

News of PSG’s bid was confirmed by transfer expert David Ornstein. Writing for The Athletic, Ornstein claimed the French giants ‘will walk away if the bid is not accepted’.

Atalanta – who want a cash payment for their prized asset – rejected a players-plus-cash offer from the Premier League giants earlier this month.

Ten Hag will be boosted by the fact Hojlund has told his club he wants to leave this summer, Ornstein adds.

Man Utd lost 2-0 against Real Madrid in a pre-season friendly on Wednesday evening and Ten Hag was asked about his side’s goalscoring woes.

Asked if the attacking display in Texas emphasised why he is looking to sign a new striker, Ten Hag said: “Absolutely.

“There were two things – the pressing can be better from the start, and scoring goals.

“I think we need more players who are capable to be in the one-on-ones and we had the situations of one-on-ones.

“It was (Marcus) Rashford, it was, I thought, Scott McTominay in one-on-one situations. (Alejandro) Garnacho, one-on-one situation. From the situations, you have to score.”

Jadon Sancho has led the line throughout pre-season, though this is obviously not a sustainable option.
