AFP are reporting that Paris Saint-Germain are retracting Christophe Galtier’s comments about Lionel Messi’s (35) future, specifying that the Argentinian forward will only play the final game for PSG at the Parc des Princes this season.

Earlier today, in a pre-match press conference ahead of Saturday’s match against Clermont Foot, Galtier confirmed Messi’s departure at the end of the season.

“I’ve had the privilege of managing the best player of all time. It’ll be his last match at the Parc des Princes, I hope he’ll be welcomed in the best possible way. He was an important part of the team this season and was always available. I don’t find the remarks and criticism to be justified,” said Galtier.

His comments didn’t come as a surprise. Despite re-integrating the first-team set-up following an unsanctioned trip to Saudi Arabia, it is widely reported that the Argentine world champions will leave Les Parisiens when his contract expires at the end of the season. His future destination is not yet known, but a move to Saudi Arabia, Inter Miami or Barcelona are seemingly Messi’s most likely options.

However, speaking to AFP, PSG have retracted Galtier’s earlier confirmation, seeking to specify that this is only Messi’s last match at the Parc des Princes this season.
