Paris Saint-Germain was linked to Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford, whose contract expires in June, but there’s a clause for the Red Devils to extend his deal for one more.

Nonetheless, The Athletic reported on Monday, citing sources, that the capital club was willing to give the England international a lucrative contract for a move to the French capital.

The Ligue 1 side had an offer of £400,000 per week on the table from PSG, but no transfer occurred. PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi didn’t hide their intention to lure Rashford abroad and team him up with Kylian Mbappé as the forward tandem for the French side.

“We’re not hiding it; we spoke before. But the moment was not a good moment for both sides,” Al-Khelaifi told Sky Sports in December before Manchester United triggered Rashford’s one-year extension.

“Today, if he’s a free agent, of course, we can talk to him directly, but we are not going to talk to him now. Let him focus on the World Cup. Then, in January, hopefully, if we’re interested, we will talk to him.”

PSG sporting advisor Luis Campos will be in the market for a forward this summer with the possibility of Lionel Messi exiting and the uncertain future of Neymar Jr., who will be coming off a severe season-ending ankle injury.

Whether the team revisits this interest in the future remains to be seen.
