Despite reports earlier in the week claiming that Bernardo Silva is set to stay put at Manchester City for the summer, clubs are not giving up on their pursuit of the Portuguese ace.

Barcelona, who have made him a top target for the summer, are planning to open talks to sign him next week. But, they will face stiff competition from Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain, who have upped the ante in their pursuit of the 28-year-old.

Indeed, as per The Times, PSG are working on a deal to sign Bernardo Silva from Manchester City this summer and are ready to offer as much as €70 million to bring him to the French capital before the transfer window closes.

The report claims that PSG are confident of landing Silva if a fee can be agreed with Man City as they do not have to operate under the same financial restrictions that Barcelona have to.

The Catalan giants have held a long-standing interest in the 28-year-old, while the midfielder is believed to prefer a move to Camp Nou as well. However, with the club still yet to register Jules Kounde, question marks remain over whether they can sign and register more players.

PSG hope to take advantage of this uncertainty as they will be in a position to offer much more lucrative terms to Silva and do not have to deal with registration issues.

Another factor that could work in their favour is the presence of director Luis Campos. It was Campos who took Silva from Benfica to AS Monaco, where he built his reputation before earning a move to Man City.

The Premier League champions, for their part, are said to be demanding at least €80 million for the sale of Silva, although it is unlikely that they would entertain offers for one of their key players this late in the window.

But if there is a chance that a sale is possible, Barcelona will need to act swiftly or risk losing Silva to PSG.
