Paris Saint-Germain and Lille OSC have reached a verbal agreement regarding the transfer of France youth international Lucas Chevalier (23), according to a report from Foot Mercato.

Despite his strong performances across the UEFA Champions League campagin last term, there has been uncertainty surrounding the future of Gianluigi Donnarumma. The Italian has frequently expressed a desire to remain at PSG, however, his current deal expires at the end of next season.

Past weeks have therefore been crucial for Donnarumma’s future. PSG do not want a repeat of the Kylian Mbappé situation, and so the ultimatum was simple: sign a new deal or leave. At the time of writing, no agreement has been found, and so Les Parisiens have gone looking for his replacement.

The European champions have a long-standing interest in Chevalier, and that has now been acted on. As per Foot Mercato, a verbal agreement has been reached with Lille. The Frenchman is now set to make the switch to the Parc des Princes in a deal worth €40m.

Chevalier will sign a five-year deal with PSG, and only minor details need to be sorted before completion of the deal.
