Paris was the decor for the UWCL match between French side PSG and Albanian side Vllaznia on November 23rd. It was expected that the Parisians would be the dominant side and they illustrated that to the world. They put five past the Albanians in an exciting 5-0 victory in the UWCL.

PSG started the game in a 4-3-3 formation with the attacking threat of Groenen-Baltimore-Bachmann on top supported by Hamraoui and Geyoro. Vllaznia started in a more defensively solid 4-4-2 with the attacking threat coming from the striker partnership Doçi-Shala.

First half: PSG in the attack

The image of the game was quite the same throughout: PSG had the ball and wanted to assert their dominance going forward. Their tactics were to retain the ball, be dominant with it, and use patience to build meaningful attacks. They managed to get two goals in the onionsack via Geyoro and an own goal from Gjergji.

It could have been 3-0 or even 4-0, but PSG didn’t make the best of the high quality chances, which meant that the Albanians were somewhat in the game still at the break. All honestly requires us to say that the guests just missed the quality and directness, to really pose a threat in Paris in the first half.

Three goals PSG in second half

In the second half the Parisians continued with the task they set out at the beginning of the game: winning. They consolidated on their dominance and that resulted in three goals in the second half. Bachman, Baltimore and Folquet all scored a goal. This meant that the 5-0 scoreline was reached after 90 minutes and PSG won this UWCL tie quite comfortably.

It was a solid performance from PSG with not too much resistance by the guests. With this result, PSG is still on their way towards the knock-out rounds of the UWCL.
