Kylian Mbappé broke the deadlock midway through the first half when he played a one-two with Achraf Hakimi before skipping past a challenge and rifling low into the bottom corner from 20-yards.

Angers went close to an equaliser five minutes before half-time, when a flowing move culminated with Mohamed-Ali Cho rattling the post with a curling effort.

And PSG then increased their lead in first half stoppage time, when Sergio Ramos headed home from a corner for 2-0.

Mbappé went close to increasing PSG’s lead on a couple of occasions in the first half, before Thilo Kehrer looked to have conceded a penalty for a foul on Casimir Ninga, only for the decision to be overturned by VAR.

And the third goal did come for PSG in the 77th minute, when Marquinhos headed home from Angel di María’s cross.

But Mauricio Pochettino’s side were reduced to 10 men in the dying minutes, when Edouard Michut was given his marching orders by VAR for a poor challenge on Romain Thomas.

A 3-2 victory for Marseille over Nantes means PSG aren’t champions just yet, but it is surely only a matter of time.
