Kylian Mbappe is still very much on the radar of Real Madrid as the club continues to keep tabs on him for the summer of 2024.
He will be available as a free agent, and could join Madrid on a Bosman move – something that was expected in 2022 before he renewed his contract for two years.
The Frenchman was very nearly on the move this summer as well, as he publicly announced that he would not be renewing his contract with PSG after 2024, which alerted Madrid, among other clubs.
The French giants wanted him out of the club in the summer to avoid losing him for free, but Mbappe refused to move, and was not allowed to train with the senior team until gameday two when they took on Toulouse.
In an interesting turn of events, though, PSG’s president Nasser Al-Khelaifi suggested that the winger will be at the club next summer, as well.
“Kylian Mbappe is a PSG player. We are happy to have him, we will have him next season. He loves this club and is a fantastic player. He’s the best player in the world. We are happy!”, he said in conversation with Meczyki.pl.
The Frenchman has been linked with a move away for several years, at this point, but continues to stay in Paris. He is currently on the biggest contract in European football, as well.
Al-Khelaifi was also asked about rumours claiming that he is at war against Barcelona and Real Madrid regarding the Super League project, to which he replied:
“Those clubs themselves know that I never mention their names. I always repeat and advise that they can return to the ECA at any time. Join the family. They are welcome. Juevntus has already withdrawn from the Super League project. I’m not against Barcelona or Real.”
